As institutions look for effective ways to support student success, strengthen research practices, and create more engaging learning experiences, the 2026 APEX Awards recognise four Sage Learning Resources designed to help meet those needs.

Across higher education, institutions are under growing pressure to support student success, strengthen research cultures, and create learning experiences that feel relevant, engaging, and accessible. High-quality digital resources can play an important role in helping educators, librarians, and research leaders respond to those priorities.

Independent recognition can help institutions identify resources that combine subject expertise, thoughtful design, and clear value for teaching, learning, and research.

This year, four Sage Learning Resources have been recognised in the APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, receiving one Grand Award and three Awards of Excellence across video, business education, student success, and research training.

Commenting on the awards, Karen Phillips, Executive Vice-President of Sage Learning Resources, said:

"Recognition across these categories reflects the deep subject expertise our teams bring to social and behavioural science publishing, as well as the quality of Sage's content. These resources are built to meet real teaching, learning, and research needs, and we're pleased to see that work recognised across such a wide range of formats and audiences."

Helping students engage with complex ideas

Maintaining student engagement remains a challenge across many educational and training environments. Institutions increasingly need resources that go beyond traditional text-based learning and encourage active participation.

Sage Video Documentaries, which received a One-of-a-Kind Electronic Publication Grand Award, supports this need by helping educators bring complex social, cultural, and political topics to life through curated documentary content and real-world perspectives.

For educators and librarians, that means more opportunities to support active learning, encourage critical thinking, and bring a wider range of perspectives into classroom discussion.

This recognition reflects a wider shift towards learning materials that help students explore ideas in context, engage with multiple perspectives, and connect academic concepts to the world around them. Previous One-of-a-Kind Electronic Publication distinctions for Sage Video: Social Justice and Sage Video: Disability Studies further demonstrate the value of visual resources in supporting inclusive, critical, and discussion-led learning.

Supporting student success and career readiness

Students increasingly need support to develop the academic, personal, and professional skills that prepare them for future opportunities.

Sage Skills Student Success: Succeeding in Your Final Year, recognised in the One-of-a-Kind Electronic Publications category, helps students build confidence and develop practical skills during a critical period of transition.

Sage Business Foundations, recognised in the Education & Training / Special Purpose category, supports the development of core business knowledge, helping students understand the theories and practices that underpin today’s business environment.

Together, these resources speak to a broader student success challenge: helping learners progress with confidence, build independence, and develop skills they can apply beyond their course.

Strengthening research and professional practice

Research integrity is fundamental to high-quality research and maintaining public trust. Institutions increasingly need ways to support consistent understanding of research integrity principles and responsibilities.

Epigeum’s Responsible Conduct of Research online programme, recognised in the Electronic Media - Education & Training / Special Purpose category, provides researchers with a comprehensive introduction to responsible research practices across the research lifecycle.

For institutions, this kind of training can support compliance requirements while also helping to build shared standards, expectations, and responsible research cultures across disciplines.

As research environments become more complex, accessible and comprehensive training can help organisations meet both institutional and professional expectations.

Together, the resources recognised in the 2026 APEX Awards support a range of institutional priorities, from student engagement and student success to professional development and research integrity. The awards acknowledge work designed to create meaningful learning experiences and help institutions achieve their goals.
