We are thrilled to announce that in response to recent feedback from our reviewers, we have published significant updates to Epigeum’s “Becoming a Researcher” programme, one of the five courses which form part of our Research Skills Toolkit resource!

Research

These enhancements are designed to provide a more engaging, inclusive, and comprehensive learning experience for all our product users.

So what can you expect from the new material? Let’s dive in!

New Themes and Content

We have introduced new themes and updated existing content to reflect current trends and needs including:

  • The importance of research culture
  • References to AI in research
  • Greater emphasis on researcher wellbeing
  • Inclusivity of sector developments such as industry placements, industry PhDs and research internships
  • Updated and regionalised resource banks for users to gain further contextual understanding

A ‘summing-up’ activity has been included at the end which consolidates all themes within the course, with updated quizzes which test users understanding on this new content!

New and Improved Videos

We have enriched the course with new footage which is designed to increase diversity and improve quality, covering a wide range of essential topics including:

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Research Culture
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • How to conduct ethical research
  • How to attain effective feedback:
  • Mentorship and Networking

Streamlined Text and Increased Interactivity

To enhance accessibility and engagement across the programme we have provided revisions which include simplifying and reducing the amount of text which better caters to our diverse international audiences. In many cases we have swapped note taking and text out for more dynamic, interactive activities.

Revamped and New Pods

Based on user feedback, we have refocused and updated our pods, which are navigation buttons with additional learning opportunities which aim to enrich the learning experience. We have also included a few new ones which reflect the diverse needs of researchers, for example on navigating disability in a new institution, and how to balance pregnancy when completing a research degree.

New Epigeum Template Design

Finally, we have incorporated a fresh design interface for the course, which provides a cleaner, accessible and more user friendly learning experience!

We are confident that these updates will significantly enhance your learning experience on the “Becoming a Researcher” platform and hope you enjoy the changes as much as we do. Feel free to share your thoughts or any feedback on these updates. Happy learning!
