2. Universal header and search

What do you mean by universal header?

The universal header is a new menu bar located at the top of the webpage with links to each of the Sage Learning Resource product platforms available, as well as our search functionality. This new header uniformly displays on every Sage Learning Resources page.

What does universal search mean?

Universal search is the ability for users to explore content from across all Sage Learning Resource platforms at one time. The search functionality is located within the universal header and when a user selects “Search all content” from the search drop-down menu, the search will include applicable results from Research Methods, Business, Skills, Video, Data, Campus, CQ Press and/or Reference & Academic Books.

If my library doesn’t subscribe or own all of Sage’s Learning Resource products, will they all be displayed across the header?

Yes. The Sage Learning Resources universal header is not subscription sensitive, meaning the header and platform links will uniformly appear for all users. With the universal header, we purposefully created a single, simple interface to show and link our product platforms. We are dedicated to creating a holistic and integrated user experience for our customers, allowing them to easily see, search, and move between our offerings. The universal header enhances and standardizes site navigation for our current suite of products and will provide the flexibility we need to expand our offerings in service toward Sage’s mission to build bridges to knowledge.

If my library doesn’t subscribe to all products, can I change search results to only show content that’s available to me?

Yes. We offer the ability for library administrators to automatically filter their users’ search results to only display content included within their current holdings. To do so, library administrators can download this how to guide or follow these instructions:

1. Go to  SecureCenter.

2. Log in to your administrator account.

3. Click the “Accounts” icon.

4. Scroll to the “Custom Settings” section of the page.

5. Click the checkbox next to “Hide unavailable SK content”

If a library administrator had previously selected this option within Secure Center, they do not need to make any changes. The “Hide unavailable SK content” selection will cover the universal search results, as well as the SK platform search results.

Will the new universal header appear across all of Sage’s Learning Resource products?

With the exception of our legacy CQ Library products, the new universal header will appear on all product pages. The CQ Library legacy products not included are Congress Collection, CQ Almanac, CQ Magazine, Encyclopedia of American Government, Politics in America, Public Affairs Collection, Supreme Court Collection, Supreme Court Yearbook, and Voting and Elections Collection. Users will be able to easily navigate to these legacy products from the updated CQ Press homepage within the newly integrated Sage Learning Resources platform.

3. Single sign on (SSO)

How does single sign-on work?

Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication method that enables users to securely authenticate and login to multiple applications or websites by using just one set of credentials, in the case of Sage Learning Resources, using your Username and Password.

What are the benefits of SSO?

SSO helps reduce the number of times a user is required to login while providing greater security and convenience.

Will the barcode access method available via my institution still be supported for Sage Learning Resources?

No, this access method is being discontinued with this platform update (as of 3 April 2024). If you have questions about alternative ways to access Sage Learning Resources, please contact [email protected].

Will my library end users benefit from SSO too?

Yes, users that authenticate via IP, Open Athens, and EZ Proxy, will benefit from only being required to login one time per session across products. This also applies for end users when logging into their personal profiles.

Are there any Sage Learning Resources products not accessible using the site’s new universal SSO authentication feature?

Sage Campus is not currently included within universal SSO. However, we are working on the solution for adding Campus institutional and individual profiles to our SSO technology and hope to have this live within 2024. Until then, Campus users will continue to log-in as they currently do for institutional or individual profile access.

What if my SSO doesn’t appear to be functioning correctly?

Users may need to click on the “Institution” button or the “My Profile” button to activate their SSO authentication, but re-entering your credentials will not be required.

6. CQ Press customers

Is anything changing for CQ Press customers?

Yes, there is a new dedicated homepage for all CQ Press resources located at  https://cqpress.sagepub.com. In addition, we will be redirecting any customer who land on the current CQ Press homepage (library.cqpress.com) to the new CQ Press portal page cqpress.sagepub.com

Is anything changing for CQ Researcher customers?

What updates do library administrators need to do for the CQ Researcher homepage URL update?

Are there any content updates to CQ Researcher?

Yes, CQ Researcher reports are now viewable in a single page, making content more easily searchable and scrollable. As we move away from the tabbed report structure, we have updated the quick links table of contents (located on the right-hand side of the page) to include the entire table of contents which will allow users to conveniently jump to their preferred section of the collective report.

Please note, access to CQ Researcher will not be affected with this release. Your current content and product links will continue to work; however, the updates above will provide a more direct link to the product.
